Aims and scope

UCL Open: Environment is a new, open and transparent open access (OA) megajournal where high-impact disciplinary and interdisciplinary research is published that showcases radical and critical thinking on real world problems, with the aim of benefitting humanity. UCL Open: Environment welcomes submissions across all aspects of environment related research.

Operating dually as an open access e-journal and offering immediate publication in a dedicated preprint server, with open peer review, the entire publishing process will be accessible, transparent, fair, and accountable. Articles will be judged on the merit and scientific validity (sound scholarship) of the work and the Editors are inviting submissions from any grade of researcher at UCL and beyond, at all career stages, including early career researchers, professionals, and senior scholars.

It is the aim of the megajournal to:

  1. Rapidly disseminate and publish scientifically sound work that offers new knowledge
  2. Increase the value and seek greater benefits of publications by creating an open and transparent environment, including open refereeing
  3. Promote opportunities for cross- and interdisciplinary research and learning

Manuscripts do not necessarily have to report novel findings, so long as the above demonstrable scope is met. Authors are required to include a supporting statement of robustness to demonstrate how the contribution may improve and add to the corpus of knowledge in the field, as well as outlining how the work meets the focus of environment related research.

You will find further information on how to prepare your article for submission on the for authors pages, as well as our editorial and reviewer policies on the publishing policies pages.
